Oriana House, Inc., Receives State Award
Oriana House, Inc., is proud to receive statewide recognition from the
Correctional Accreditation Association of Ohio (CAAO). Oriana House is a
private, non profit community corrections and chemical dependency treatment
agency that provides services in Summit, Cuyahoga, and Seneca counties. Oriana
House is the first agency to receive CAAO's Reginald A. Wilkinson Award of
Excellence in Accreditation Adult Corrections Agency of the Year award. CAAO
recognizes exemplary programs and individuals that have demonstrated a strong
commitment toward the accreditation process and improvement of correctional
programs throughout Ohio. The award was presented today during CAAO's annual
conference in Columbus. Oriana House exemplifies the commitment to accreditation
by having seven of its residential facilities and two of its non-residential
facilities accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA). ACA
standards are the national benchmark for the effective operation of correctional
systems throughout the United States and are necessary to ensure that
correctional facilities are operated professionally. Oriana House has earned
accreditations from ACA in all areas in which ACA offers accreditation. The
following Oriana House facilities/programs are accredited by ACA:
- Home Incarceration
- Summit County Community Based Correctional Facility
- Community Corrections and Treatment Center
- Day Reporting
- Residential Correctional Center
- Terrence Mann Residential Center
- Residential Institutional Probation
- Cliff Skeen Community Based Correctional Facility
- CROSSWAEH Community Based Correctional Facility
Oriana House started its accreditation process in 1999 by accrediting
its Home Incarceration Program. The Home Incarceration Program received an
impressive score of 99.2% on its re-accreditation in 2002. Next, Oriana House
earned the accreditation of its Summit County Community Based Correctional
Facility in January of 2000 and upon re-accreditation in May of 2003 received a
score of 97.97%. In April of 2001, Oriana House underwent an accreditation audit
on its Community Corrections and Treatment Center in Cleveland and subsequently
earned a 100% score in August 2001. Additionally in August of 2001, Oriana House
was a field test site for the Adult Day Reporting Standards. The Day Reporting
Center received a score of 97.97% on the field test standards. The Residential
Institutional Probation Program, Terrence Mann Residential Center and
Residential Corrections Center all received accreditation in May 2002. Their
scores were 96.4%, 96.4%, and 97.97% respectively. Most recently Oriana House
had two facilities, the Cliff Skeen Community Based Correctional Facility for
Women and the CROSSWAEH Community Based Correctional Facility in Tiffin, Ohio,
receive accreditation in August 2003 with both receiving scores of 99.5%. Bernie
Rochford, executive vice president for Oriana House, said the agency is honored
to receive the Reginald A. Wilkinson Award of Excellence in Accreditation Adult
Corrections Agency of the Year. "Each accreditation is achieved through a
series of reviews, evaluations, audits, and hearings. We are proud of the
services we deliver and are honored to be recognized for our efforts,"
Rochford said.
